Community Participation

Community participation is not an outing. It is how confidence, friendships and belonging actually get built.

We start with what you are interested in — sport, music, faith, gaming, gardening, study, volunteering, the local café — and we build support around getting you there and helping you take part.

At first that might mean a support worker beside you the whole time. Over the months it might mean meeting you there, then checking in afterwards, then not needing to come at all. That progression is the point.

We also support innovative community participation: skill-building activities in a community setting that work towards a specific goal in your plan.

What this looks like

  • Social and recreational activities in your community
  • Getting to and taking part in clubs, classes and groups
  • Building confidence in unfamiliar places
  • Volunteering, study and community-based skill building
  • Support to maintain friendships and connections
  • Culturally and religiously significant activities and events
