Development of Life Skills

Daily Living & Life Skills

Independence is a set of learnable skills. We teach them at your pace, in real situations.

Skill development works best in the place where the skill will actually be used. So we cook in your kitchen, catch your real bus route, and set up a budget for your real expenses.

We break each skill into steps, practise them repeatedly, and reduce the prompting as you get more confident. Progress is recorded so you and your planner can see how far you have come.

What this looks like

  • Cooking and safe food handling
  • Budgeting, banking and paying bills
  • Public transport training and road safety
  • Personal organisation, calendars and routines
  • Communication and self-advocacy skills
  • Using technology and staying safe online
  • Appointments, forms and everyday admin
